Digital Communications Manager

NetCommunications is looking for a Digital Communications Manager to manage the consumer facing digital presence of traditional print publications transitioning online in the African-American space. The Digital Communications Manager is responsible but not limited to managing editorial content, sourcing and workflow; maintaining visual layout; and social media outreach. Additionally, you must be proficient in all aspects of maintaing a successful online publication for NetCommunications' clients. The ideal candidate must be able to follow and execute day-to-day tasks associated with an existing overall digital strategy as well as take direction from project stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Establishing workflow for content publication processes.
- Update content calendars based on client needs.
- Stay up to date on current news stories and be able to do the research required to do so.
- Have a minimum of 2 years of experience developing editorial content online.
- Be creative and knowledgeable in coming up with ways to drive traffic (social networks, SEO, forging partnerships).
- Have a working knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices.
- Manage social media presence on Facebook and Twitter.
- Manage online discussions by listening to users, reading between lines, and responding in a timely manner to user needs, requests, and comments.
- Creatively and proactively assist clients through digital interaction.
- Identify and analyze issues, patterns and trends in audience engagement and content performance.
- Experience implementing and optimizing digital strategies, working closely with consultants, designers, writers, and business stakeholders.
- Identify, tag, publish and promote user-generated content.
- Be proficient in promotion (content promotion, networking with competitive sites, working with PR agencies for reviews/interviews/etc.)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 3-5 years of professional work experience.
- College degree preferred in liberal arts, journalism, communications or new media.
- Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Must be an excellent writer with strong voice and sharp wit. Experience constructing strong headlines is also necessary.
- Prior experience in publishing, media, or online journalism a plus.
- Excellent project management, time management, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to keep track of best practices and the adoption of industry trends a must.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage and update web site content and graphics.
- Solid working knowledge of HTML/Photoshop/Dreamweaver/Wordpress and the MS Suite of software products.
- Solid familiarity with Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and other social platforms with evidence of activity within these platforms.
- Self-starter.
- Must be able to work on-location.
- Diligent work ethic and insatiable desire to expand skills.
- Passion for Online Publishing and all things digital.
